Next Steps

Voice Self-service applications can be developed using Genesys Voice Platform. Genesys Voice Platform is open-standards based next generation voice platform software that runs on off-the-shelf hardware. Applications (DTMF and/or speech) for the telephone are written in VoiceXML markup language. VoiceXML enables open source voice and web unification that results in reduced costs in developing and maintaining applications for the telephone. Since VoiceXML leverages web-standards, the existing web infrastructure and business logic for web applications can be used for telephony applications.
As market leading, standards-based voice platform software, Genesys Voice Platform provides significant revenue-generating opportunities for voice application developers. Various options are available for application developers to develop and test their applications for Genesys Voice Platform customers.

Genesys Voice Platform: Enterprise Edition (GVP: EE)
Genesys Voice Platform: Enterprise Edition (GVP: EE) is a voice self-service software-only solution that runs on off-the-shelf hardware. GVP: EE supports both "in front of" and "behind" the PBX configurations. When configured in front of the PBX, voice self-service is handled before calls land on the PBX or ACD, reducing port investment on the PBX or ACD and expensive carrier charges for advanced features. A behind the PBX configuration is optimal for enterprises that are looking for a "plug and play" solution which requires minimal changes to their existing PBX or ACD.
Voice Platform offers flexible deployment options, including single- or multi-site deployments. All Voice Platform components are configured and managed through a single OA&M environment, reducing overall operations, maintenance, and training costs.
Genesys Voice Platform: Network Edition (GVP:NE) is a carrier grade, software-only solution that offers standards-based development, flexible deployment options, simplified integration and improved time to market for voice applications. For service providers, GVP: NE provides enhanced multi-tenanted communications capabilities to power internal, consumer, and business services on a commonly managed voice infrastructure.
Genesys Voice Platform: Developer Edition (GVP:DE) is a package specifically created for developers. It is a four-port GVP system that supports VoiceXML 2.1 and MRCP. GVP: DE supports Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to enable IP telephony. Partners requiring ASR and TTS licenses can purchase evaluation licenses from Nuance, IBM or Telisma (ASR only).
Genesys Studio
Genesys Studio offers an intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) that brings the convenience of drag-and-drop development to a desktop PC, simplifying application creation. Studio enables developers to focus on the logic of their applications while Genesys Studio creates the underlying code. Studio is included at no extra charge with all versions of GVP indicated above. Developers can also use any other developer tools that support VoiceXML 2.0 standards or write applications in native Web application development environments.
